Veterans Resource Central Seeks Volunteers

HARRISBURG, July 26, 2006 — Veterans Resource Central (VRC) is seeking volunteers. VRC provides transition assistance to returning veterans, active duty military and their families through a corps of volunteers and Internet tools. VRC is the leading organization for family support, career counseling, and job placement assistance and business networking for returning veterans in central Pennsylvania. VRC is a Harrisburg-based, non-profit group whose primary mission is to provide career counseling and job placement assistance to returning veterans as well assistance to deployed families. The organization strives to serve Pennsylvania veterans from all military branches. VRC is seeking individuals with strong organizational and leadership skills as well as volunteers in a variety of areas.

“Our primary mission is to help returning veterans by providing career counseling and job placement assistance. Initially, our mentor program is focusing our efforts on supporting veterans graduating from our local colleges in their job search,” says John Carrigan, VRC president and Relationship Manager, Heartland Payment Systems.

“I am involved in VRC for many reasons. The men and women in our military are willing to lay down their lives to protect the freedoms that all of us take for granted. The least we can do in return is assist these brave people and their families in anyway possible” states Bill Devore, Owner, Franklin's Printing and Mailing and member of the West Shore Chamber of Commerce.

VRC assists returning veterans, and families of deployed service members through a network of volunteers and services. VRC introduces veterans to a network of community business leaders, many of whom are veterans, family members of veterans or who just care about veterans and want to help with their transition. A community of volunteers is required to meet the many needs of veterans and their families. Visit www.veteransresourcecentral.org, select How Can I Help and complete online volunteer form under Volunteer Now.
