VRC - Helping veterans build a new life at home

Our purpose is to help veterans build a new life here at home. To do this we provide information, education and guidance through a corps of volunteers and Internet tools. With these tools we want to make certain that the troops returning from our current conflicts have the opportunity to make well-informed decisions about their life and careers. Contact VRC for help

At this time we are building a system that will enable us to use the Internet to match the needs of returning veterans with volunteers who can guide and mentor them.

In order for Veterans Resource Central to help the numbers of troops who will be returning over the next few years we need volunteers, sponsors and contributions. Please lend us your support.

VRC serves all veterans from all military branches. For more information on how to sponsor, volunteer, or donate to the VRC call (717) 221- 1360 or visit How can I help?

VRC is currently expanding our community of volunteers required to meet the many needs of our returning veterans. We are also establishing partnerships with corporations, government agencies, churches and civic organizations in Central Pennsylvania.
INITIAL RESPONDER – When veterans first contact Veterans Resource Central, we arrange a meeting with a veteran who has already integrated back in to the community. Their role is to establish the initial relationship with the veteran and VRC. The objective of this is to determine how VRC can best help. Once this is known, VRC can arrange for a mentor or another support contact to meet with the veteran.
MENTORS – A good mentor is the key component of VRC's effort to help veterans begin good careers. VRC has a steadily growing list of people with experience in a great variety of fields who work with veterans seeking help in beginning new careers and finding better jobs. After listening carefully to the thoughts and desires of the veteran, a career counselor/mentor works to develop an individualized plan with recommendations to accomplish their goals. .
VOLUNTEERS – In order to provide the services of Veterans Resource Central, we need volunteers of many kinds. There is a need for fundraising, coordinating veterans and mentor meetings, writing materials for veterans and volunteers, website management and many other roles.
BUSINESS START-UP GUIDANCE - In collaboration with Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC), the Veterans Entrepreneurial Tutoring and Training (VETT) program helps veterans explore the steps to starting and running a business, and provides sources of training. .
PARTNERSHIPS – We are constantly expanding our knowledge of and linking to the many organizations offering services to veterans. Many are aimed at helping those with specific needs. VRC will help guide veterans to these resources as the needs are identified in our discussions with returning vets. .
SPONSORS – Not everything can be done by volunteers, so it’s important that VRC has ongoing sources of financial support. VRC is offering the opportunity to sponsor our website. In return for a small monthly contribution VRC will provide opportunities for the sponsor to be recognized on the website and on the sponsor’s website and materials. .
CONTRIBUTORS – There is an ongoing need for funding to develop and maintain the tools needed for VRC to support the veterans who have served our country. .
